May 2 - Ian: “I used to think Pop was from Georgia.”
Me: “Why is that?”
Ian: “Cause his name is George. Where else would he be from??”

May 31 - This photo was taken 8 years ago (in 2015). Ian was 5 and just getting the hang of holding several cards in one hand. I love the tongue out for concentration too.

A few weeks ago, I bought a backup set of Ninja Turtle UNO sealed in its original packaging and put it directly in the firebox with all the other family valuables. We only play Ninja Turtle UNO in this house and they don't make it any more. If anything were to happen to the original tin of cards, I would be distraught. How do you even play without a Pizza Card??

Ian got A honor roll for the third quarter. He played viola in the spring concert last week, where one of their pieces was "Shut Up and Dance." We spent a whole morning getting his passport renewed and the woman at the post office couldn't stop talking about how he looks just like me. She was also stunned that he was younger than 16 and still needed to go through the kid procedures for a passport.

The main thing he requests of me these days is food and sporting equipment. One sort of begets the other. He took his last SOL test yesterday and the school year is almost over. We're planning on a summer spent mostly around town, using all this sporting equipment. He has the faintest beginning of a mustache.

On the way to school with Shrop yesterday, Ian asked who Tenacious D is. On the way home from school with me, we looked up the seven wonders of the ancient world versus the seven natural wonders of the world.

My mom used to say that she never understood when other parents would talk about certain kid ages being times to endure or get through. She found each kid and each age a unique delight. Having spent my time in the car discussing the difference between the lighthouse of Alexandria and the library of Alexandria, I agree with her.
