Chicago

Greetings from beautiful south Chicago! We've had very productive meetings today and it was a lovely fall day in the windy city, if a bit windy. My face may be chapped. Our host David took us on an impromptu driving tour of the city which was a treat since it was Angela's first time in Chicago. We had a lovely Italian dinner and I'm now reclining in my hotel bed with crappy TV on in the background. I'm exhausted but it was a very good day.

I'm enjoying checking into all kinds of new places on FourSquare but I still have a headache so I'm heading to bed. Here's to another fun day Friday and a sweet reunion tomorrow night with my boys.

Under pressure

The good news is that my EKG, chest x-ray and blood work all show normal. So by all accounts, I'm not at death's door. My blood pressure is fine. My chest is clear. My pulse is slightly elevated, though.

And my blood sugar has been through the roof for two weeks at least. So there is something wrong, but we aren't exactly sure what. It's actually interesting that I can use my blood sugar as this early warning detection system to know if something is out of whack. We won't mention that the blood sugar probably wouldn't be an issue if I wasn't diabetic.

But after 26 years as a diabetic, I learned something today. The doctor said that if I am fighting an infection it can weaken my system overall so that simple things will make my pulse race. So it's possible that this mysterious illness that I'm fighting is just making me have a hard time all around.

I'm ready for an easier time whenever it's ready for me.

Be still my heart

I left a meeting this afternoon to go get an EKG, chest x-ray and blood work. It wasn't on my list of errands for today, but I realized that I really should go see someone before I go on several business trips this week and next. Since Friday I've been having occasional shortness of breath and racing heart rate. It doesn't last more than five minutes or so, but it's been more than one isolated incident. So I finally called to see if they could squeeze me in this week. As luck would have it, they could fit me in tomorrow afternoon but wanted to have test results before my visit. Hence the last minute lab work.

It was a lovely visit in that my x-ray tech was super fast and friendly and my phlebotomist was a real pro. So we'll see what the doctor says tomorrow and for now I'm going to bed early.
