What's in a name?

I went to visit my parents today and they had a book that my uncle had worked on about the history of Edgecombe County (where my father's family is from). I finally got to see a list of all my great grandfather's children, named alphabetically.

The alphabetical family

Ada Belinda, Claudia Dorinda, Effie Fostina, Gertha Helen, Ivey Joseph, Katie Luelnor, Marion Napoleon (known as "Bee"), Oliver Pervis (my grandfather) and Queen Ruby. They didn't finish the whole alphabet.

I also learned my grandmother's first husband's name was Rosebud Uriah. I guess it's not just for sleds.

And my father thought Ian was an odd name to pick for our son. Whew.

Thanksgiving part two

We tried to spread out our Thanksgiving dinners over two days. We still managed to have two meals on Thanksgiving, though, so we had a third meal today. My fridge is officially exploding with leftovers. But first we had to replace the kitchen faucet since it had crapped out in the midst of dinner prep. So my brother came over this morning to install a new faucet. Then we had an impromptu visit from my aunt and uncle. Then we prepped for dinner. It has not been a relaxing day but it's been a good one.

Thanksgiving

It's just after 11pm and the baby *just* fell asleep. I'm thankful for our wonderful son but I'm also grateful I don't have to be anywhere tomorrow. We'll actually be having our official Thanksgiving dinner with my family tomorrow but since my brother wanted dinner we still had a Thanksgiving dry run today. That is in addition to the meal we had at Rich's folks' this afternoon.

I forgot my test strips on the way to Richmond so did some poor guessing on how much insulin to take and had a roller coaster of a day. All in all it was a good day.

But my wrist is still sore, despite the cast and I'm tired. So we'll just call it a night.
