DLand - Gin(ie?) Juice
First, many thanks to Byron for getting the Phish* cover of Snoop Dogg's “Gin and Juice” stuck in my head. I've been wandering around all day today singing about my pocketful of rubbers and my homeboys. It's kinda hard bein Snoop D-O-double-G But I, I somehow, some way Keep comin' up funky ass shit nearly every single day I had kind of a rough day at work today in that there just weren't enough hours in the day. But man, I was undeterred. I have been in a fabulous mood since I woke up this morning. Cox Communications has been on a quest for the past week to kill me slowly by starving my internet connection at home and sending score after score of vapid technicians to work on it. I think I will get free cable for a year based on the number of $20 credits I'm due from their “on time guarantee” for service calls. But still, I have internet access now again and all is well in the world. I got bitches in the living room gettin' it on and, they ain't leavin' til six in the mornin' Mrs. Bossman and I worked our mojo on the pinball machine in the office today. The solenoid had gone bad on the left flipper and it was stuck in the up position. But we tore that sucker apart and she's good as new now. Pinball machines are fascinating to work on. They have all kinds of little wires and fuses and flux capacitors in them. Really cool stuff. I'm adding it to my resume. You can take your Microsoft certifications and shove them when folks see I can keep an Addam's Family pinball machine running on my curriculum vitae. It wasn't really my plan to stay at work all night working on it, but it just kind of happened that way. The satisfaction of the mamushka was enough reward. Laid back [with my mind on my money and my money on my mind] My machine at work has exploded. I can't open more than one copy of Internet Explorer without freezing the whole thing and occasionally when browsing the hard drive it tells me I need to reinstall Money 2002. Sigh. I think it's time for a clean slate. We have new backup software at the office as well and it's ironically the cheapest stuff we tried and the easiest to use. The one that really got me was the guy who spec'ed out our needs at $17,810. It was hard not to laugh in his face since we just picked one that cost $900 total. Take that, techie boy. Ya know this type of shit, happens all the time You gotta get yours before I get mine In the land of Bossman hand-me-downs, I now have a LeapFrog installed in my bedroom. Even though it sounds like some kinky porn machine, it allows me to watch Tivo from the Swedish foam mattress without having to run additional RCA or coax upstairs. It is grand. Now just to buy a second Tivo remote so I don't have to keep carrying my current one around with me. Then I'll basically never leave the bed. What a plan, indeed. *Mea Culpa, Mea Maxima Culpa - it's actually the Gourds
